![]() ![]() Sheriff Neal was the 2011 International Law Enforcement Officer of the year, as well as the Congressional Medal of Valor recipient. He has received 43 awards for his heroic actions from that day alone. Sheriff Neal is the most decorated law enforcement officer in the state of Arkansas's history. On March 20, 2010, Sheriff Neal was instrumental in stopping a mobile active shooter that resulted in a 17 second gun battle eliminating a father and son that killed two West Memphis police officers and wounded the Sheriff and Chief Deputy of Crittenden County. ![]() Prior to returning to Monroe County, Sheriff Neal was an Arkansas Fish and Game Warden starting in 2007. He began his law enforcement career with the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office where he currently acts as Sheriff. However, Neal was first a fire fighter for 11 years, retiring at the rank of Captain. SHERIFF MICHAEL NEAL has been in law enforcement for 24 years. ![]()
